Bono
Joining us in 2019, Joe Main brings 20+ years of professional vocal and performing experience to the band. He prides himself on being as accurate to Bono’s vocals as possible and is constantly studying the rock legend’s every note, accent and movement.
Growing up in Melbourne, Joe loved singing in his primary school choir, turning this passion more formal with singing lessons in high school. After year 12, he went straight into a 3 year music degree majoring in voice at Box Hill College of Music, while fronting a soul/funk cover band on the weekends.
In 2001, encouraged by his then girlfriend, Joe auditioned for and landed an ensemble role in his first musical theatre show (West Side Story) with amateur company CLOC Musical Theatre. This sparked a new passion for the theatre stage, seeing Joe perform in numerous amateur ensemble and lead roles over the next few years, culminating in moving to New York in 2004 to studying acting at the broadway based Circle In The Square Theatre School.
Not long back from New York, Joe auditioned for Universal Studios Japan and moved to Osaka in 2006 to perform as “Joliet” Jake Blues in the theme park’s Blues Brothers Show. Since then, Joe has worked on cruise ships, in cover bands, session vocalist on TV/Radio and as a vocal coach… including teaching at the Susie Ahern School of Singing and the Australian College of the Arts (Collarts).
In 2011, Joe joined the production team of Network TEN’s television revival of “Young Talent Time” as vocal coach for the cast members and assistant to musical director John Foreman.
Joe loves the rawness and purity of emotion in Bono’s performances. His favourite songs to sing are Bad, With Or Without You & I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.
As well as fronting U2AB, Joe continues to perform in cover bands and works as a Social Media Consultant and Content Creator.
